Don't make me laugh...bitterly.
Now, I'm young, I'm not old by a generational standard. But I don't see why essentially dumbing down the school system will allow students to exceed the decent levels of literacy that we experience now. If a child can't spell, it's not an indication that the English curriculum should begin to compensate.
I'm studying to be a teacher, and currently the trend is that anything we can do to make out methods different or 'modern' is good, despite whether or not it's utterly ridiculous or terrible. How this Norm Hart can suggest that 'digital literacy is vital' is beyond me, obviously this is the desperation for the 'modern' showing through in despite of logic and the corruption of social and educational standards.
I'm scared. I'm honestly scared. Acceptance of digital literacy may seem innocent now, but eventually it will lead to a whole generation who's English comprehension is founded in incomprehensible language.
I'm scared.
